Barbara is Executive Mandala’s founder and Managing Director, and is a widely acknowledged specialist in the field of human change. She has helped many executives to significantly transform the way they operate in their roles, bringing about higher levels of personal performance and organisational success.
She specialises in leadership development, both at an individual and team leadership level, and her work in this area is based on the principle that when technically competent business leaders learn to become personally aware, and strengthen their mental resilience, they work more easily within high pressure scenarios typical of today's corporate environment. It is in this area, that mindfulness is introduced.
Her career spans 30 years – and during this time, her business experience has been gained both domestically as well as internationally. Until very recently, Barbara headed up the executive coaching business for an international consulting firm across the Asia Pacific region. She was also a member of the global executive group accountable for managing the quality of delivery of coaching worldwide.
In these positions, Barbara was responsible for developing the expertise of a cadre of coaches across a number of cultures in the region, including India, Greater China and Korea. She also personally delivered coaching to senior level executives throughout these regions – and continues to do so.
As a consequence of work successfully carried out in India, she was appointed in 2009 to the International Faculty of a new leadership school based in New Delhi, the School of Inspired Leadership. She held this position for two years. Whilst in India in 2010, she attended Tushita retreat, as well as four days of teaching with HH the Dalai Lama in McLeod Ganj.
Of particular interest to her is risk mitigation and leadership style, and her work with senior leaders often makes a significant contribution to this critical aspect of business operation where the organisation may be at genuine material risk.
Service contribution to the not-for-profit sector forms part of Executive Mandala's overall strategy, and Barbara and her team currently provide coaching support to executives in one such organisation. She has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Disability Services Australia, and enjoys being part of the sector at this very important period of political and social change with the implementation of the NDIS.
She is a member of the teaching faculty of Professional Development People, and conducts Mindfulness workshops to members of the clinical psychotherapy profession. She was a member of the academic design team at Jansen Newman Institute of Psychotherapy where she was responsible for creating unit outlines for both Leadership Development and Coaching in the Workplace, key units of the Bachelor of Social Science program, Barbara has a Graduate Diploma, Communication Management, from the University of Technology, Sydney (Australia) and a Graduate Diploma, Psychotherapy, Jansen Newman Institute of Psychotherapy, Sydney (Australia). She is currently completing her Doctorate, through International Management Centres Association, UK. Her thesis examines the affects of complexity and stress on the corporate executive population, and presents evidence of highly successful outcomes through the application of specifically designed psycho-educational elements in leadership support and development programs.
She is a registered Psychotherapist and is a member of PACFA; the Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and she also holds membership of the International Coach Federation. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors also.
